Man arrested in 16-year-old boy's stabbing death in Wesley Chapel

WESLEY CHAPEL — The Pasco County Sheriff's Office arrested an 18-year-old man late Friday night in connection with the stabbing death of a Zephyrhills High School student, deputies said.

About 3:30 p.m., Tuvarrion Sirmons, 16, was stabbed at County Line Road at the Meadow Pointe II clubhouse east of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

Cleave Gittens turned himself in to authorities after witnesses at the scene identified him, and after deputies spoke with his friends and family, sheriff's office spokesman Doug Tobin said.

The two had argued at a nearby home earlier, Tobin said, and the fight picked up at the clubhouse.

It was unclear late Friday night if Gittens would face a charge of first- or second-degree murder.

Sheriff's officials said a crisis team would be at Zephyrhills High School Monday to assist students.
