Pinellas authorities warn parents of man making lewd comments to students

CLEARWATER — Authorities are investigating several reports of a man who has made inappropriate comments to students near schools in central and north Pinellas.

The first incident was reported in October, and the most recent sighting of the man was reported within the last week, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Both the Sheriff's Office and the Clearwater Police Department have received reports about a man in a pickup truck who acted inappropriately while making lewd comments to students.

Detectives did not have a description of the suspect Thursday.

"Parents are urged to speak with their children and advise them that if they see or hear of something like this occurring to please immediately tell an adult," the Sheriff's Office said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sheriff's Office Det. Mark Kolenda of the crimes against children unit at (727)582-6200. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (800)873-8477.
