TAMPA — A Pinellas County Sheriff's Office corporal was arrested last week on a DUI charge in Tampa, police said.

Cpl. Chester Wolcott Johnson, a 19-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Armenia Avenue near Interstate 275 about 2 a.m. Thursday when he struck a car, Tampa police said.

The driver, identified as Seyed Tabibzadehdezfuli of Brandon, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with minor injuries.

Johnson's blood alcohol level measured .20, jail records show. Florida law presumes impairment at .08.

Johnson, 43, was booked into the Hillsborough County jail, but was released hours later on $500 bail.

An internal affairs investigation has been launched, the Sheriff's Office said.
