PALM HARBOR - Authorities have arrested a car thief suspect they say led them on a two-county chase early Saturday morning.
Arabi M. Lazaro, 23, who is listed as a transient, was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, driving without a license, resisting arrest and grand theft auto.
Lazaro had been driving a green, 2010 Chrysler Sebring that was reported stolen Thursday from a rental company at Tampa International Airport, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office began chasing the Lazaro, who fled west on Tampa Road.
Hillsborough deputies ended their pursuit when it crossed county lines at about 3:30 a.m., but notified Pinellas deputies, who deployed Stop Sticks at Lake St. George Drive and just east of U.S. 19.
Lazaro lost control of the vehicle as its tires were blown out. He crashed into a sign before trying to run away on foot.
Pinellas deputies captured him quickly, officials said.
No one was injured.
