Authorities arrested a man who they say stole a car at gunpoint at a Seminole Sweetbay Monday afternoon.
Pinellas sheriff's officials said Anthony Eugene Sutton, 37, of St. Petersburg, pointed a gun at Gerald Kolar, 82, of Seminole, in the parking lot of the supermarket, 10370 Seminole Boulevard, at about 3:30 p.m., then drove away with Kolar's 2003 Buick.
Sutton was later arrested in Largo after an undercover detective saw a car with a matching description, officials said. He was taken into custody after a brief pursuit in which the sheriff's office helicopter helped locate him.
Prior to stealing Kolar's car, Sutton tried to steal the car of 54-year-old Michelle Hingley of Largo, who was getting out of her car with her children when Sutton approached. Hingley ran away with her children and the keys to her vehicle, sheriff's officials said.
No one was injured.
Sutton faces charges of carjacking and attempted carjacking.
