Pinellas deputies ask public to help identify bank robber

PALM HARBOR — Detectives with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office are asking for help identifying a suspect in a midmorning bank robbery Monday.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a man entered a BB&T Bank at 35098 U.S. 19 N about 10:30 a.m., flashed a handgun at a teller and demanded cash. After the teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money, the man fled.

He is white, in his mid 20s to mid 30s, between 5 feet 9 and 5 feet 11, with a thin build.

He was last seen wearing a dark ski mask, dark jacket and dark long pants. He was carrying a cloth shopping bag.

The Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information to call Detective Nick Bedy of the robbery/homicide unit at (727) 582-6200. Or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
