Pinellas deputies round up suspects in U.S. 19 drug sweep

LEALMAN — Pinellas Sheriff's deputies announced charges against 45 people Thursday accused of dealing or buying prescription drugs or other narcotics along U.S. 19.

The suspects were described as prostitutes, pimps or johns who bought or sold drugs during a five-month investigation in Lealman and St. Petersburg, deputies said. They were accused of dealing in small amounts of oxycodone, Xanax, hydromorphone, Soma, Suboxone, ecstasy, crack cocaine, marijuana and heroin, deputies said.

Deputies said many of the drug transactions took place at the Mosley Motel, 401 34th St. N, and the Economy Inn, 451 34th St. N, in St. Petersburg, where many of the suspects were staying.

Deputies said they had taken a dozen of the suspects into custody by late Thursday and would continue searching for the remaining suspects.
