Pinellas Park Police: Man threatened Walmart workers with knife

Pinellas Park Police arrested a St. Petersburg man Wednesday after he threatened Walmart employees with a knife during a theft, authorities said.

Officers responded Wednesday to a call at the Walmartm 8001 US Highway 19 N, after workers called police saying a man threatened them with a knife. Officers saw the man leaving and demanded he stop, but the man ran into the woods eight blocks away.

Police brought in a K-9 unit and a helicopter from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office to help with the search.

Officers arrested Scott Allan Lyelee, 30 of St. Petersburg. He was charged with aggravated assault, felony theft and resisting an officer. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
