ST. PETERSBURG — A Pinellas County Sheriff's deputy who dared an officer to arrest him was, indeed, arrested Saturday night.
Jeffrey De Cresie, 48, was warned multiple times to stop shouting at his girlfriend, drawing the attention of several people in front of the Mahaffey Theater at about 10 p.m.
The responding officer, who is with the St. Petersburg Police Department, smelled alcohol coming from De Cresie's breath, noticed De Cresie's eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slurred, an arrest report states.
De Cresie — who has been with the Sheriff's Office since 2000 — "dared the arresting officer to take him to jail," according to the report.
He was arrested on a charge of disorderly intoxication in a public place and taken to the Pinellas County Jail. He was released on $100 bail.
