Plant City police release new details in shooting that injured man, teen

PLANT CITY — Police are still searching for three people in the shooting of a man, a teenage girl and a pit bull puppy during an armed robbery earlier this month.

In an updated news release, Crime Stoppers provided a description of the suspects and released a photo of their car.

Marshon Shoemake, 25, had a 14-year-old girl in his vehicle when he pulled into a driveway on Tennessee Street about 6 p.m., Plant City police said. Three males in a white vehicle pulled in beside him and two of them got out of their car then forced Shoemake and the girl to enter the home at gunpoint, police said.

Shoemake and the girl tried to run out of the home but were shot. Also hit was a pit bull puppy.

The two attackers then ran to their car and left, traveling east.

Police arrived at the home shortly afterward in response to a 911 call and Shoemake and the girl were taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Shoemake was treated for gunshot wounds and was expected to recover.

The girl, whose name was not released, was treated and released, police said. The condition of the puppy was not released.

Investigators believe the car was a newer model, pearl white Cadillac CTS with matching pearl white rims, a sunroof and dark tinted windows. The suspects who got out of the car were black males, medium height, thin build and wearing black hoodies and ski masks, police said. They were armed with black semi-automatic handguns. The driver of the Cadillac was described as a chubby black male with long dreadlocks.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the suspects. To submit a tip and be eligible for the cash reward, call 1-800-873-8477, report anonymously online at crimestopperstb.com or send a tip using the P3 Tips mobile application.
