TAMPA — Two armed and possibly dangerous men are on the loose in St. Petersburg after leading police on a chase from a Tampa nightclub early Friday.
At about 3:10 a.m., officers responded to a report of a man with a gun who had threatened another patron at the Club Mirage on W Hillsborough Avenue. The armed man fled in a car, and police chased it into St. Petersburg.
The car crashed near 2115 Quincy St. S and two men jumped from the car and ran away.
Officers from the Tampa Police Department, St. Pete Police Department, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and Gulfport Police Department — including helicopter units and police dogs — spent hours looking for the suspects near 26th Avenue and Quincy Street S, but they closed down the search by about 5:15 a.m., police said.
Witnesses also told police the suspect car struck a pedestrian when fleeing from Club Mirage, but whoever was hit left the area before police got there.
The suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Police said as of 8 a.m. there were no new updates and the investigation continues.
