CLEARWATER — Police arrested a man early Thursday who they say was the skateboarder captured in surveillance video last week as he rolled away from Target with a stolen TV.
David Ahmaal Aziz Kennedy, 30, of Clearwater faces a charge of armed robbery.
Police said that on Jan. 15, Kennedy entered the Clearwater Mall Target at 2747 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. and grabbed a 32-inch Element LCD television. He then hopped onto a skateboard, riding through part of the store with the television in his hands.
A store worker confronted him near an exit, but he showed her a utility knife and ran out the door and hopped on his skateboard, Clearwater police said.
According to police, Kennedy has been arrested more than a dozen times in Pinellas County, including on a grand theft charge Jan. 9. He was released on bail Jan. 14, then robbed the Target the following day, police said.
Kennedy was booked into the Pinellas County jail, where he remained Thursday in lieu of $50,000 bail.
