Police charge man with robbing two Largo banks

LARGO — Police have arrested a man who they say has robbed two Largo banks in the past six weeks. The latest robbery was at 12:53 p.m. at the Fifth Third Bank at 11281 Ulmerton Road, according to the Largo Police Department. Armed with a knife, Ronald J. Massey, 30, entered the bank and demanded money, Largo police said. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Massey has been charged with armed robbery in connection with the incident. He has also been charged in connection with the robbery of the BB&T bank at 14141 Walsingham Road in Largo on Dec. 14, police said.

    TAMPA — A 44-year-old Tampa man was arrested and charged Wednesday in a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist earlier in the day.

    Christopher Jerimiah Cole, 44, of Tampa was driving this silver Mercedes on Wednesday when it struck a bicyclist on the exit ramp from eastbound Interstate 4 to southbound U.S. 301, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Cole kept driving, troopers said. The bicyclist, a 45-year-old Brandon man, died at the scene. His name was not immediately released because troopers were working to notify his family.
