Police: Clearwater man left child alone while he sold prescription pills

CLEARWATER — Police say a 21-year-old Clearwater man left a toddler alone in an apartment while he was outside selling drugs.

Sonny Falcon, of 535 Fairwood Ave., No. 229, was charged with child neglect, sale and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and possession of cocaine.

Clearwater police said they saw Falcon selling the antianxiety drug Xanax to a man in a 1997 Mercury Tracer outside 501 Fairwood Ave. about 11 p.m. Monday.

Police searched the vehicle and found a small amount of marijuana and 64 Xanax pills. The man in the car, 18-year-old Raymond Rivera III of 6882 46th Way in Pinellas Park, was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

While officers were investigating, they discovered Falcon had left an 18-month-old boy alone in an apartment in the complex during the drug deal, Clearwater police said. Police did not say if Falcon was related to the boy.

The child was found unharmed, but police said they also found numerous Xanax pills and a packet of cocaine on a coffee table in the apartment, within the child's reach. The child's diaper was dirty and he was crying for something to drink, so officers changed him and gave him a bottle, according to an arrest report.

The child was turned over to a woman who came home from her job dancing at Diamond Dolls, a strip club, according arrest reports. The woman's name and how she knows Falcon were redacted from the reports.

Police said they found more Xanax pills after searching the residence.

In all, police seized 779 Xanax pills, a gram of cocaine, 1.5 grams of marijuana, $574 in cash and the Mercury.

Police also arrested Falcon's girlfriend, 19-year-old Brook Moore, of 1399 Belcher Road, No. 77, in Largo. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. According to arrest reports, Moore was in Rivera's vehicle when the incident unfolded.

Falcon was being held at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $32,000 bail Tuesday morning. Pinellas court records show that he had a pretrial hearing earlier Monday in a marijuana possession case.

Rivera and Moore were released Tuesday morning after posting bail.
