TAMPA —A Tampa man accused of running a stop sign and causing a crash with a Tampa police officer is facing a dozen criminal charges, records show.
Wilder D. Dumeus, 28, ran a stop sign at the intersection of N 34th Street and E 28th Avenue about 6 p.m. Wednesday and was struck by a police car driven by Officer Nathan Toole, Tampa police said. Dumeus got out of his car and fled on foot, but Toole, who had minor injuries from the crash, was able to catch and arrest him.
Dumeus was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with injury, resisting arrest, illegally possessing a firearm and cocaine trafficking, among other charges. He was being held Thursday at the Orient Road Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
Another man in the car, Christopher M. Cherubin, 32, of Brandon was charged with possession of cocaine and a controlled substance with intent to sell, illegally possessing a firearm and possession of marijuana. He was being held in lieu of $21,500 bail.
