Police identify apparent suicide victim found in Anderson Park

TARPON SPRINGS — Police have identified the apparent suicide victim found Wednesday morning at Anderson Park.

Anthony E. Engler, 46, was found on a bench near the boat ramp after a boater reported a sound similar to a gunshot at 9:20 a.m.

Tarpon Springs police spokeswoman Barbara Templeton said the department is waiting on the medical examiner's report, but "there's no evidence to indicate there's foul play.

"There was nothing to suggest that it was anything other than a self-inflicted gunshot wound."
