Police identify teen suspect in Clearwater shooting

CLEARWATER — Police have identified a suspect in the Clearwater shooting that left a man badly injured Friday.

Kwuashawn Wyche, 16, brandished a gun and shot an adult male during a fight that took place Friday afternoon just outside the Community Pride Frances R. Breeden Child Care Center at the corner of Engman Street and Holt Avenue, police said.

Wyche shot the victim, who has not been identified and was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the Clearwater Police Department. Police said Sunday the victim was still being treated.

Wyche, whose nickname is "Jersey," is believed to be armed. His whereabouts were unknown.
