Police identify victim in fatal hit-and-run Friday night

TAMPA — Police on Monday identified the victim of what they called an intentional hit-and-run that killed a man Friday night.

Jon Anthony Ray Murrow, 29, of Plant City was run over by a red Ford Thunderbird about 7 p.m. as he walked on the sidewalk at 4005 W Hillsborough Ave., near Aaron's Furniture, police said. The driver, William Charles White Jr., 41, of 2504 Robin Drive in Plant City, was charged with first-degree murder.

Police said White and Murrow had been in an altercation, but no other details were released.

White was caught about 15 minutes later near the intersection of Hillsborough Avenue and Anderson Road and taken into custody. He remains in jail without bail.
