CLEARWATER — Police are investigating a string of burglaries committed at Clearwater churches over the weekend.

Between Saturday and Monday, three churches were broken into, according to the Clearwater Police Department. In all three cases, the suspects forced their way in through doors or windows, detectives said.

According to police, Grace Lutheran church at 1812 N Highland Ave. was burglarized Saturday. Friendship United Methodist Church at 2039 Druid Road and Skycrest United Methodist Church at 2045 Drew St. were burglarized either Sunday or Monday.

A church-owned van was also stolen from Grace Lutheran Church after the intruders found the keys during the burglary, detectives said.

Police did not disclose the amount of money stolen.
