Police investigate fatal shooting at complex on Gandy Boulevard N

St. Petersburg police were investigating the shooting death of a man found Sunday night at an apartment complex on Gandy Boulevard N, authorities said.

Police received a call just after 7 p.m. and soon found the body of a 25-year-old man lying outside Apartment 4-A at the Gateway Apartments at 2000 Gandy Boulevard N.

The man had been shot in the upper body, and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Investigators learned that the victim, whose name was not released, was in an argument with another man. The man then grabbed a handgun and shot him, police said.

The man's name was not released, but he was taken to police headquarters for questioning.

Police were still investigating the nature of the argument and what the victim's relationship with the man was. No further information was immediately available.
