LARGO — A Largo woman was arrested early Sunday after police said she threw a bottle of muriatic acid onto a man's face.
Melissa Diane Egbert, 39, faces a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Surveillance cameras at a residence caught Egbert, who also goes by Melissa Howlett, throwing acid into the man's face, Largo police said. She then fled the scene by car.
It was a domestic violence case, police added. They did not identify the victim or disclose his condition. Egbert remained Sunday in the Pinellas County Jail on $100,000 bail.
Muriatic acid, another name for hydrochloric acid, is a solvent often used for cleaning concrete, tile and other hard surfaces.
