Police looking for St. Petersburg bank robber

ST. PETERSBURG — Police are searching for a man who robbed a Wells Fargo bank on the city's west side and fled on a bicycle early Thursday morning.

Police say the man entered the bank at 1000 Tyrone Blvd. N about 9 a.m. wearing Oakley sunglasses, a USF Bulls hat and white sneakers. When he got to the counter, he passed the teller a note demanding money, St. Petersburg police said.

After receiving an undisclosed amount, the man rode away on a mountain bike carrying a navy blue backpack. Police believe he is in his 30s or 40s.

Anyone with information can call (727) 420-8911 or (727) 892-5000 to leave a confidential tip.
