Police: Man accused of carjacking says he thought he was in a video game

LARGO — Terance Ryan Fairman, 21, told police officers he thought he was in a video game when he tried to push a man off a motorcycle on Belcher Road about 12:30 a.m. Sept. 26.

Fairman of Largo said he was trying to get the motorcycle to drive home, according to an arrest report. He admitted he was "highly intoxicated," according to the report.

Investigators said Fairman ran away after hitting the motorcyclist in the head at a red light. He faces a charge of carjacking (without a weapon).

'The video don't lie,' says man arrested in theft of candy bars

A 53-year-old Pinellas Park man stole approximately 12 candy bars from a Citgo on Park Boulevard on Sept. 24, according to an arrest report.

When police later caught up to the man, Verdell Jerome Sheppard, they showed him surveillance video from the store. As he watched, Sheppard, referring to himself, said: "That's Sheppard. The video don't lie," according to the report.

He faces a charge of retail theft.

Police: Tampa man used aluminum foil to steal perfume

A Tampa man is accused of lining a plastic bag with aluminum foil to throw off antitheft machines when he walked out of a beauty store at the Tarpon Mall with 14 bottles of perfume.

Juan Ramon Rodriguez, 37, faces charges of retail theft and possession or use of an antishoplifting control device.

Rodriguez tucked the bottles, worth $1,211.24, into the bag and walked out of the store on Sept. 20, but he was stopped as he tried to leave the parking lot, according to an arrest report.
