Police: Man, angry with mom, fires gun in air

TAMPA — A 19-year-old man fired a gun in the air Saturday night during an argument with his mother, police said,

Tampa police were holding a roll call near Tampa Park Apartments just after 8 p.m. Saturday when officers heard several gunshots. About 10 officers searched the area, got a description of vehicles involved in the shooting, and located one of the vehicles near N 13th Street and E 9th Avenue. Mikeil T. Royal got out of the car, police said, and fled into a parking garage when he saw a Tampa officer.

Police found Royal in the garage and arrested him. A handgun was inside the car. Royal is on probation for eight felony convictions from 2009 and 2010, including aggravated battery and cocaine possession, according to state records.
