Police search for Channelside armed robbery suspect

TAMPA — Police are searching for a man they say tried to rob two men at gunpoint in a parking garage near Channelside after midnight Saturday.

The suspect approached the men, ages 34 and 31, with a chrome semiautomatic handgun possibly wrapped in a red bandana and said, "Give me your money," police said.

The men told the man they didn't have any money, and the suspect said, "I'll shoot you." When the two insisted they were out of cash, the man ran out of the parking garage at 1208 E Kennedy Blvd.

No one was injured and nothing was stolen.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 14 to 20 years old wearing a red Ed Hardy T-shirt, faded cuffed blue jeans, a dark colored baseball cap with a tan rim, black sneakers with white markings and a black band around his left wrist.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (813) 231-6130.
