Police search for shooter in St. Petersburg's Williams Park

Police were investigating a shooting late Saturday night in front of the Williams Park Hotel in downtown St. Petersburg.

No one appeared to be injured in the shooting which happened about 9:30 p.m. Multiple people appeared to have had an argument before one pulled a gun, police said. Bullets shattered the windows of the hotel, which is across the street from Williams Park.

Officers put up crime scene tape around a bus stop on the south end of the park, where they found a set of bullet shell casings. More shell casing lay amid shattered glass on the sidewalk in front of the hotel.

Police were last looking for the suspected shooter, believed to be a man in 50s who was carrying a cane and dressed in yellow. It was not entirely clear if he was the only shooter.

"We have about 20 different stories so far," said Sgt. Spyro Lefkimiotis. "A whole bunch of people saw it but not a lot of people are talking to us."

The shooting remained under investigation late Saturday. No arrests had been made.
