CLEARWATER — Police are searching for a man and a woman accused of using an underage boy to help them in two thefts reported Sunday evening.
The pair and the boy, estimated to be about 10 years old, were captured on surveillance video at the Ron Jon Surf Shop at 377 Mandalay Ave. as they stowed stolen goods in a baby stroller, Clearwater police said.
Later that evening, the trio also entered a Hooters restaurant at 381 Mandalay Ave. and removed purses from a back room, police said. Surveillance video shows two adults directing a boy, who wore a black T-shirt and gray shorts, to bring the purses to them to stash in the stroller.
A debit card in one of the stolen purses was later used at the Target at Clearwater Mall on Sunday night.
Police estimate the man and woman are between 30 and 35 years old. The man has a shaved head, stands about 5-foot-10 and weighs about 190 pounds. The man was last seen wearing gray shorts and a black Ron Jon T-shirt, which was stolen from the shop.
Police also described the woman as 5-foot-7 and about 200 pounds. She has brown hair and was last seen wearing a bright green shirt and gray or brown capri pants.
