Police seek suspect in fatal screwdriver stabbing

TAMPA — Police are searching for a man they say stabbed and killed his estranged wife's new boyfriend by jamming a screwdriver in his eye.

The stabbing took place about 1:50 a.m. Wednesday at 1901 W Chestnut St. in Tampa, three blocks east of Armenia Avenue near Interstate 275, police said.

Ronald Bennett, 43, was in the bedroom with his girlfriend when Alexander Miller started banging on a window, police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.

Miller, 34, then burst through a bedroom window and a fight erupted, authorities said.

Bennett was stabbed during the fight and taken to a local hospital, where he later died, Davis said. Miller may have driven away in a red Dodge Dakota pickup truck. The vehicle had been seen in the area of Nebraska Avenue and Busch Boulevard, police said.
