LARGO — Police say they have DNA evidence to prove a 35-year-old registered sex offender sexually assaulted his 15-year-old babysitter in November.
Douglas Wayne Wilson, of the 2700 block of Hillsdale Ave., was arrested Tuesday on a charge of sexual battery.
According to arrest reports, Wilson came home around 2:30 a.m. Nov. 7 and began fondling the girl, who was babysitting for him.
The girl told Largo police she struggled to get away from Wilson and told him to stop but he continued to molest her. As Wilson tried to rape her, the girl was able to flee from the home and call her father, arrest reports say.
Authorities say they obtained DNA evidence that matched Wilson, who was convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in Ohio in 1999.
On Wednesday afternoon, Wilson was being held without bail in the Pinellas County Jail.
