Police: Tampa man stabs girlfriend, throws hot food on her face

TAMPA — A man was arrested Tuesday, accused of stabbing and pouring hot food on his girlfriend.

During an argument at their home in the 1000 block of E 21st Avenue, Charlie Preston's girlfriend yanked a plate of food out of his hands. Enraged, Preston hit her head several times with a cup, knocking her down, then poured a bowl of hot food on her face, an arrest report shows.

Before she could escape into another room, Preston grabbed a steak knife and stabbed her three times as he yelled, "I'm going to kill you," police said.

The couple have been in a relationship for eight years.

Preston, 55, faces a charge of attempted murder in the second degree. He was booked into the Hillsborough County jail, where he remained Wednesday in lieu of $250,000 bail.
