Police: Woman set boyfriend's home afire

A woman was jailed on an arson charge early Friday after she admitted setting fire to her live-in boyfriend's apartment, according to Tampa police. A caller to 911 reported a fire just after 11 p.m. Thursday in an apartment at 3209 N 21st St. When officers arrived, they could see smoke and fire coming from a kitchen, police said. Sitting on the front porch was Rhonda Pitts, 52, who proclaimed that she had set the blaze, police said. Damage was minimal. Pitts was booked in the Orient Road Jail on charges of first-degree arson and obstructing or opposing an officer without violence. She was held without bail.
