Police: Two men robbed outside Temple Terrace pharmacy

TEMPLE TERRACE — Two men were robbed of prescription drugs and cash Tuesday outside a pharmacy, police said.

Jason Kavanaugh, 40 of Sarasota, and Adam Brownfield, 24 of Bradenton, were leaving the R&H Pharmacy at 8890 N 56th St. about 2 p.m. when they were approached by Chad Marlett, 38 of Port Charlotte, and Daniel L. Zook, 31 of Sarasota, authorities said. All four men knew each other, according to police.

Marlett and Zook demanded Kavanaugh hand over his medication, then struck Kavanaugh and Brownfield with their fists, police said. Kavanaugh was knocked to the ground. The robbers sprayed pepper spray in his face and pulled $120 from his pocket before fleeing, police said.

According to a Temple Terrace spokesman, the case has been referred to the state attorney's office to decide on charges.
