TARPON SPRINGS — A 31-year-old pool cleaner accused of stealing more than $100,000 worth of jewelry and other items from a home where he worked was arrested Sunday, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Detectives responded to a Tarpon Springs house on Saturday regarding a burglary. The resident told deputies that the pool cleaner, Henry William Gass arrived at the home, disappeared for several minutes, and abruptly left the house, leaving his cleaning tools behind.

The victim later discovered her jewelry and other items were gone.

Detectives contacted the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, which arrested Gass on Sunday during a traffic stop on several charges, including marijuana possession.

Pinellas deputies later located the stolen property inside Gass' work truck and Tampa home.

Gass, who was employed by Masters Pool Care in Tampa, admitted to stealing the items, deputies said.

He faces charges of burglary and grand theft.

Gass remained at the Hillsborough County jail without bail Wednesday.
