Port Richey man accused of hitting brother with car

HOLIDAY — First, the brothers threw silverware at each other, authorities say. Then a toaster. A crowbar. A plank of wood. Then the fight between Justin Lee Colby, 30, and Daniel Colby, 27, escalated.

According to the Pasco Sheriff's Office, Justin and his girlfriend sped off in his car Friday evening but drove back to the residence at 3302 Glenwood Circle. Daniel was standing in the driveway and didn't move to get out of his brother's path.

He thought Justin "was just going to scare him and was going to swerve to miss him at the last second," a report states.

Justin didn't swerve.

Daniel hit the hood and was thrown over the car's roof and landed in the road, authorities said. He had a broken knee, the report says. Justin denied hitting Daniel on purpose. He said "Daniel ran towards his car and jumped onto the hood of it as he was coming to a complete stop," the report states.

The fight started between the brothers' girlfriends, authorities said.

Justin Colby, of 8641 Gandy Lane in Port Richey, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. He was released from the Pasco jail Saturday on $4,000 bail.
