Port Richey man arrested, had marijuana plants on front window sill

PORT RICHEY — A vice and narcotics detective knocked on the door of 11214 Nome Ave. on Wednesday after receiving reports of drug activity in the area and saw something suspicious:

"Several marijuana plants were observed on a window sill," a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report states.

The resident, Eric J. McVey, 35, allowed the deputy inside, where an additional 45.4 grams of marijuana and pipes were found, authorities said.

McVey said "the items were his and stated he does smoke marijuana," the report states.

He was arrested and charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McVey is being held at the Pasco jail in lieu of $10,150 bail.
