Scissors plunged into head lead to arrest of Palm Harbor woman

HOLIDAY — Cassie Marie Galyas spent Monday night at her friend's house on Indian Key Drive in Key Vista — drinking, singing karaoke, having a good time. But things got ugly about 2 a.m. Tuesday, when Galyas accused her 30-year-old friend of sleeping with Galyas' ex-boyfriend.

Galyas, 27, punched her friend in the face and plunged a pair of scissors into her head, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Both women were covered in blood. The victim had a 1-inch cut to her head and a black eye. The attack happened at the victim's home, with her husband and three young children present, deputies said.

Galyas of Palm Harbor fled and was caught by the Florida Highway Patrol at the Key Vista clubhouse after she ran over some mailboxes and was driving with a flat tire and no headlights, a report states.

Galyas was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, DUI (third offense), leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage, DUI with damage to property or person and knowingly driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license.

As of Wednesday, Galyas was being held at the Pasco County jail in lieu of $13,000 bail.
