CLEARWATER — Police have made a second arrest in connection with the mysterious appearance of a semi-automatic handgun on the campus of Clearwater High School on Tuesday. Austin Davis, 14, has been charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds, a felony. Clearwater police had already arrested Markazell D. Hodges, 15, on a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon on school grounds. On Tuesday, the school was put on a heightened state of security shortly after noon when a student reported that Hodges was carrying a gun with him in class. A school resource officer arrested Hodges and confiscated the weapon, a .380 pistol. Davis "had possession of the gun before giving it to Hodges," according to the Clearwater Police Department. Davis has not told police where or how he obtained the weapon. It is still unclear why the gun was brought to school.
