Serving drug warrant, Pasco deputies find counterfeit money operation

PORT RICHEY — Bills littered the bedroom floor like dead leaves. Washingtons to Franklins in drawers and printers and shredded in the garbage, all of them fake.

Deputies were executing a search warrant Friday morning for drugs at Jody Robert Barone's home at 11020 Tyler Drive when they stumbled into his personal U.S. Mint, a Pasco sheriff's report states. There were 10 printers, copying plates, gold metallic paint, paper cutters, shredders and a how-to book on counterfeiting money.

Barone, 33, who has past convictions for burglary and felony battery, was arrested on charges of possessing counterfeit money and altering currency, along with possessing methamphetamine and other drugs and paraphernalia. He remained in the Land O'Lakes jail Monday in lieu of $22,100
