Sheriff's Office identifies former Pasco deputy shot by neighbor

SHADY HILLS — The former Pasco County Sheriff's jail deputy shot Tuesday night has been identified as 68-year-old Joseph John Sosnowski.

While in his front yard about 5:40 p.m., Sosnowski was shot twice in the chest by a neighbor, 67-year-old Fredrick William Heustis, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Sosnowski was flown to a local hospital in serious condition, and he remains there recovering, deputies said.

Sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said Sosnowski and Heustis were involved in a longtime dispute.

Heustis was charged with attempted murder and taken to the Pasco County Jail in Land O'Lakes.
