Sheriff's Office seeks help identifying Dunedin convenience store robbers

DUNEDIN — Authorities have released a video of a Dunedin convenience store being robbed earlier this month, hoping footage of the suspects and a distinct recording of one's voice could lead to tips.

The armed robbery took place at Munchee's at 614 Union St. in Dunedin at about 9:35 p.m. on Jan. 15. Two men with handguns entered the store. One ordered a store clerk to lay face-down while the other demanded that a second employee give him money and cigarettes, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

After the clerk had handed over cartons of cigarettes and cash, one of the suspects hit him over the head with his gun and ran out of the store. The suspects pointed their guns at a customer who was arriving as they fled.

Clearwater police are also investigating a Jan. 19 robbery at Dodge's Store at 1194 NE Cleveland St. that might have been committed by the same suspects, the Sheriff's Office said.

The suspects had their faces covered at the time of the Dunedin robbery. One is described as a black male last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a Hollister logo on the front and dark pants. The other is a black male last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black shorts with vertical white stripes, and black-and-white basketball sneakers.
