Shooting victim near Carrollwood identified

TAMPA — Hillsborough County deputies were investigating a fatal shooting late Thursday after a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds, the Sheriff's Office said.

Ignacio David Aponte Muriel, 34, was found outside a home at 12346 Witheridge Drive. Deputies got a 911 call about 9:10 p.m.

Deputies found the man lying between two houses with multiple gunshot wounds.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene.

Detectives are still trying to determine a possible motive, but don't believe it was a random shooting. They think the victim lived nearby.

Deputies ask anyone with information about the incident to contact them at (813) 247-8200 or call Crimestoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
