Shots fired but no one injured; Dade City man charged

DADE CITY

Argument leads to gunfire but no injuries

A man was arrested Saturday after, deputies say, he threatened three people and then opened fire on them.

No one was hurt.

Mario Rodriguez Jr. began arguing just after 7 a.m. with one person at 15233 Davis Loop, a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report states. It's unclear what started the dispute, but two other people stepped in to help.

That's when Rodriguez threatened to shoot them and pulled out a 9mm handgun, deputies say. He said he would "take care of them all," the report states, and fired three rounds, hitting no one.

He later told deputies he shot in self-defense, the report states.

Rodriguez, 22, of Dade City was arrested on three counts of aggravated assault. He was released from Land O'Lakes jail after posting $15,000 bail.
