Spring Hill boy, 14, arrested in string of burglaries

SPRING HILL — A 14-year-old boy was arrested Sunday after he admitted to committing a string of residential burglaries in his neighborhood, authorities said.

The teen, who is not being identified by the Times because he is a juvenile, admitted responsibility for six burglaries since Aug. 15 in the area around his home on Ansley Street, near the corner of Spring Hill and Treehaven drives, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

On one occasion, investigators say, the teen entered a home to steal a purse while the residents were there.

The boy was already wanted on an outstanding order for violating the terms of supervision set as a result of a prior burglary charge, the Sheriff's Office said. He was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Ocala.
