Spring Hill man arrested in summer invasion and shooting

BROOKSVILLE — Authorities have arrested a man in connection with a robbery and shooting this summer at Candlelight Apartments.

Lucas Sterling Farrell, 22, of 13230 Siam Drive in Spring Hill was arrested Monday by Brooksville Police and charged with attempted felony murder and armed home invasion robbery. His bail was set at $60,000.

Early on July 25, authorities say, Farrell broke into the apartment of a man and woman while they slept inside. Farrell, who reportedly had an assault rifle, demanded money. A fight broke out, the gun went off several times, and one round caught the man in the foot. Then, a report said, Farrell fled.

The shooting victim was taken to Brooksville Regional Hospital, treated and released.

Investigators interviewed Farrell this week at the Hernando County Detention Center, where he had been jailed on unrelated charges. During the discussion, authorities say, he admitted to being in the apartment as well as knowing and getting into a fight with the victim.
