ST. PETERSBURG — Police arrested a woman they said killed her dog by leaving it alone for 11 days without food or water.

Alyssa May Anderson, 24, of St. Petersburg is charged with animal cruelty. She was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on Sunday night.

Police said Anderson left her home at 3520 71st St. N several days ago. She told police she'd planned to "eventually" pick the dog up.

The Great Dane was found dead and decomposing.

Anderson remained in jail Monday in lieu of $5,000 bail.
