ST. PETERSBURG — A 37-year-old man was fatally shot late Sunday night in what police believe was an attempted home invasion.

Antonio N. Bligen was shot in the upper torso outside his residence, 4519 12th Ave. S, at about 10:47 p.m., according to St. Petersburg police. He died a few hours later at Bayfront Medical Center.

Before Bligen lost consciousness, police said he told officers that two armed men, wearing masks, tried to force him inside his residence.

Police did not immediately identify any suspects. It was the 19th homicide in the city this year.
