Two shot during robbery attempt in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG — An attempted armed robbery Wednesday night led to a shooting in which two men were injured, police said.

The shooting was reported about 10:30 p.m. at 1212 Burlington Ave. N at the Jamestown apartments after Deltonia M. Clary Jr., 20, tried to rob Shawn E. Enwright, 20, police said

The men exchanged gunfire and both were shot, police said.

When St. Petersburg police arrived, they found one of the men. Another arrived at a hospital emergency room moments later.

Clary and Enwright were recovering early Thursday at local hospitals, police said.

Clary faces attempted murder and armed robbery charges. He will be booked into the Pinellas County jail when he is released from the hospital, police said.
