St. Pete woman accused of child neglect after child wanders naked into traffic

ST. PETERSBURG — Authorities arrested a 20-year-old woman after a toddler in her care was seen wandering naked into traffic.

Neighbors noticed the 1-year-old girl in the street on Wednesday morning outside her St. Petersburg home, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. They called 911.

Deputies arrived to find the girl with Deanna Brinson, who was caring for the girl.

"The baby was discovered to be covered in her own feces," said sheriff's spokeswoman Cecilia Barreda.

Deputies also noted there was no food in the house and that it was filthy. Barreda said deputies also were concerned about Brinson's mental state because she appeared to be very confused.

They arrested her on a charge of child neglect after she was evaluated at a local hospital. She remained in the Pinellas County Jail on Thursday without bail.
