St. Petersburg man accused of molesting 12-year-old girl

ST. PETERSBURG — Police have arrested a man they said molested a 12-year-old girl who was in his care.

Walmo Ribeiro, 68, of St. Petersburg, has been charged with nine sexual offenses, including sexual battery, lewd and lascivious exhibition, and showing a minor obscene material.

Ribeiro began molesting the girl in late 2011, according to an arrest affidavit. Detectives said he would masturbate in front of the child, perform sex acts on her and make her watch videos of adults having sex. The incidents continued until at least July 2012, the report said.

Ribeiro was in the Pinellas County Jail without bail on Wednesday.
