St. Petersburg man accused of molesting and raping 10-year-old girl

ST. PETERSBURG — A 37-year-old St. Petersburg man is accused of raping and molesting a 10-year-old girl on multiple occasions over a year-long period.

Police said Kevin Loren Bishop sexually battered the girl between June 2010 and June 2011.

Authorities were withholding the girl's identity because of the nature of the allegations.

Police were alerted to the sexual battery accusations after the girl's mom found descriptions of the events in her daughter's journal.

Police determined Bishop committed the offenses based on the victim's statements, Bishop's statements, written statements in the victim's journal and a letter from the victim to Bishop in which sexual activity between the two is discussed, according to police.

Bishop was charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation and two counts of capital sexual battery.
